Why does the inside of the unbleached diaper look brown (or darker than your usual diaper)?

The absorbent core contains a type of plant fiber that most manufacturers choose to bleach, hence the white appearance of the absorbent pad. The inside of the Seventh Generation diaper appears brown, or darker because the absorbent fibers were not exposed to any bleaching chemicals.
