Are Seventh Generation's plant-based plastic tampon applicators biodegradable or compostable?

When creating our new plant-based applicator, we deliberated whether or not to create a single use plastic applicator. The biggest reason we decided to move forward with this new technology is because we heard from many consumers who want a better-for-the-environment tampon that is more comfortable to use. After conversations with our corporate consciousness team, we made the decision to offer a Free & Clear tampon that offers a more comfortable insertion while at the same time providing an alternative to traditional plastic applicators by using 95% plant-based plastic.

Both types of applicators (cardboard and plastic) should be disposed of in the trash, as neither of them are considered compostable or biodegradable. Any product that comes into contact with bodily fluids should be disposed of in the trash.
